Getting involved in politics can seem like a daunting task as a student. However, by being part of the Student Illinois Education Association, you have already taken a huge step into impacting educational politics. This page provides some other ways to get involved on campus that your chapter can advertise to its members throughout the year.
How to get Involved on Campus
Vote
One of the easiest ways to get involved in politics on campus is by voting! Chapters should encourage members to raise their voices through voting for pro-education candidates, but respect every member's political opinion.

This site will post updates for each gubernatorial, presidential, and congressional election to help inform members of politician's stances on educational issues.
Attend Regional Meetings
Another way to get involved on campus is attending your IEA regional branch's meetings. The IEA has offices throughout the state that holds meetings student members are welcome to attend.

Email Representatives
Although you might think our state and national representatives are not concerned with the emails they receive from disgruntled citizens, a lot of emails on one topic can really make a difference. Emails to representatives do not always have to be negative either. Let your representative know that you appreciate all the work they have done for education in Illinois and encourage them to keep up their amazing representation!
